Welcome

The Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) serves as a liaison between the institution and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to ensure academic integrity, student-athlete welfare, and institutional control of athletics. The FAR works with the Chancellor and the Director of Athletics to maintain appropriate oversight of intercollegiate athletics; assists the Chancellor and Director of Athletics in determining institutional positions on proposed NCAA and conference legislation; serves on search committees for positions of athletic interest; oversees processes and decisions regarding eligibility of student-athletes; remains visible and available to student-athletes and to the faculty; and actively participates in all investigations and reports of possible NCAA violations. The FAR also is a representative for Mizzou in Southeastern Conference and NCAA affairs. The position reports directly to the chancellor.

Dr. Pam Bruzina was appointed FAR by Interim Chancellor Hank Foley in May, 2017 for a 5-year term. Previously, Dr. Hinton served as an executive member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC) and was the IAC Compliance Subcommittee Chair and the Student-Athlete Welfare Subcommittee Chair. Her dedication to the welfare of our student athletes was evident during her time on the IAC. Dr. Hinton was a student athlete at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, competing in track and cross country while earning a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, which provides her with firsthand knowledge of the demands placed on student athletes.
